Days for Girls International ~ Giving girls back days of Education, Safety & Dignity.

Days for Girls International is a grassroots 501(c)3 non-profit based out of Lynden, WA that has enabled women & girls worldwide to discover their potential and self-value. Every girl in the world deserves education, safety, and dignity. Days for Girls International furthers this goal by helping girls who would otherwise go without, to have access to quality, sustainable feminine hygiene and menstrual health management awareness training. DfGI accomplishes this through both direct distribution with many other non-profits, by raising awareness, and by helping other organizations & poor communities start their own programs.
The program is working. Days for Girls International not only provides kits and training, they are helping women lead more productive lives & allowing girls to stay in school. As a result, they hold one of the keys to reversing the cycle of poverty, literally in their hands. There are a lot of things in the world that are hard to change. This isn’t one of them. THIS we are changing ~ all over the world, both globally and locally. With the help of thousands of volunteers whose goal it is to empower girls, they are changing lives, with love & compassion.

REST/Real Escape from Sex Trade

REST: Real Escape from the Sex Trade is an independent 501c3, Washington State Charitable Nonprofit Organization. REST was founded in November 2009 by a small team of women with experience dealing with troubled youth and sexual abuse issues, and other members of the team with backgrounds in wraparound services and case management to develop relationships with people being commercially sexually exploited (trafficked), or otherwise engaged in the sex trade or are at risk to enter. Our goal was to help them find a path to freedom.
Amazing organization battling on the frontlines of sexual slavery in Seattle. They provide hope & help for those caught in the lifestyle. They educate others to help correct the problem at the root & bring awareness. Prevention is so much easier than trying to restore. They are doing both, with love & excellence
REST uses its time and resources to build relationships that impact lives long term. They build relationships with local law enforcement, organizations and people to impact the sexual exploitation in the Seattle area. They have a significant impact to Dave women from the sex trade industry. I give my personal money to help them and recommend others do too. This would be great use of Amazon’s resources in their own backyard.

Days for Girls

End sexual exploitation and keep girls in school by providing washable feminine hygiene kits that last 2-3 years, sometimes longer. Is it possible that THIS is what is keeping girls shamed and out of school, keeping an unending cycle of poverty around the world? Surprisingly, it is! Corn husks, rocks, and newspaper make for infections during your period, yet millions of women use these things every month. Keep a school girl safe, healthy and dignified. Days for Girls sets up small enterprises selling the kits, teaches health, business and sewing skills, self defense and that there is no shame in being a woman. Every Girl. Everywhere. Period.

One Hundred for Haiti

One Hundred For Haiti creates and supports long-term social development and human rights programs in rural Haiti. The group is devoted to ongoing development in Haiti and have already, in the six years since our inception, initiated and propelled major programs which have affected thousands of lives. We have been directly responsible for sending over fifteen tons of food to Haiti, as well as coordinating logistics for the delivery and distribution of an additional ten tons of medical and other supplies, stocking the shelves of a medical clinic in one of Port au Prince’s poorer neighborhoods, providing temporary jobs to Haitian workers, and more. The group has supported development projects for rural communities and has also provided funding for emergency health care for Haitian citizens as well as evacuation to the USA for stranded Haitian Americans after the earthquake. The assistance we provide comes from our own actions and through our direct involvement with other humanitarian activists in Haiti. We are an officially recognized Washington State Charity. All of our work is fully transparent. We work to earn our overhead costs from outside sources so that almost every penny of your donation can be used for direct action humanitarian aid.

PAWS Wildlife Rescue

PAWS Wildlife Rescue works with over 260 species of wild animals and has saved over 100,000 wild animals over the past 30 years. The goal of the facility is to rehabilitation, so human contact is kept to a minimum with the goal of releasing healed animals back into their natural habitat.

I have personally visited the PAWS Wildlife Facility in Lynnwood, and although you can’t visit the animals, they do have cameras where you can watch them. At the time I went, there were 6 bear cubs who had been orphaned and one who had been shot. The facility could use some help with building more enclosures so they can help more animals and is completely funded by donations.

Thanks,
Jill
